Fall Season Updates

Dear ASC Community:

Fall planning is (and has been) in full swing and we are eager to get back out there with our fellow families. Not only have we been planning with everyone’s health and safety being the foremost consideration but also with the understanding that at any point in the season, restrictions may change. Below are some updates, which will hopefully help in your decision to participate in the upcoming season.

For those not yet registeredPlease register here ASAP. The registration deadline has passed, but we will continue accepting registrations before the season starts.

For those already registered: You will soon receive an email requesting payment for your registration(s).  Further details below.

Modified In-House Clinic Program

To start off the season, teams will only train and scrimmage among their own players. U4-U6 age groups will have a maximum number of 10 players and 2 coaches per team. U7-U8 age groups will have a maximum number of 14 players and 2 coaches per team. Each team will have 2 sessions per week, 1 being a practice and 1 being a team scrimmage. If conditions allow, the club may transition from single-team scrimmages to games between different teams. Please note that practices are determined by the team’s coach and usually during a weekday evening. Additionally, scrimmage/game days during regular operations are on Saturday mornings.  Once we have created the teams, coaches will contact their respective teams regarding days and times. The start date for clinic practices is scheduled for the week of August 31st with scrimmages starting September 12th.

County League

As of the date of this message, the County league is moving forward as scheduled. In the event that AAYSA cancels league play, ASC will offer regular clinic format, in which ASC teams play against each other. If restrictions do not allow such play, ASC will offer a modified format, similar to the one described above. The start date for county practices is scheduled for the week of August 24th with games starting September 11th (U12) or September 12th (all other age groups).

Registration Fees

Please contact ascgeneralmanager@gmail.com no later than midnight on 8/8 if you want to cancel registration; otherwise, the cancellation policy will apply and the amount of refund will be reduced. There are no exceptions to the refund policy, except and unless state or county directives are passed that prevent ASC from providing any programming whatsoever.

Coaches’ Orientation and Equipment Distribution

Due to the ongoing restrictions on capacity limits for social gatherings, we have made the decision to provide the coaches’ orientations remotely through Zoom. There will be one session for clinic coaches (August 17th) and one session for county coaches; they will be recorded and shared with coaches. We will send an email on meeting information for each (County Coaches have received this already). To minimize contact and having too many people at once picking up equipment, we will send an electronic sheet to coaches to sign up for designated equipment pick up times.

ASC Field & Fall
Preparation Day at AMS

Tomorrow, August 8th, at Annapolis Middle School, volunteers will gather to help prepare items for the Fall season. Please consider volunteering some time between 9am-12pm to help with measuring and lining fields, constructing goals, and/or organizing team equipment bags. Bring a mask and please practice social distancing if helping! Stay tuned to our Facebook page for any possible changes.

SoccerPost Discount Week, August 12th - 16th
If you need any equipment or gear for the fall soccer season, please visit SoccerPost Annapolis between August 12th through 16th to receive a 20% discount! Just mention that you are part of Annapolis Soccer Club at the time of checkout to receive the ASC Member Discount.

More information about safety logistics and field protocol for players, coaches, and families will be forthcoming. Please understand that we are required to follow local and state directives, which are beyond our control. We are hopeful that our season will progress without having to restrict operations, and we truly appreciate the flexibility and understanding of our members. We recognize that many of our members need this fall season for a variety of reasons, and we can’t wait to see the kids safely on the soccer fields.

Sincerely,

ASC Board of Directors
