Winter 2021 Programming Reschedules
Coaches and Volunteers,
It’s been some time since we were on a field together. While this weekend calls for warmer weather, of course, there is still precipitation in the forecast. We will play through the rain on Saturday and Sunday and hope to be able to finish our season on March 14th without anymore snow! The purpose of this email is to address all the make-ups and how we plan on going about rescheduling events.
To start, scheduling for this season has been no easy feat. Our original season timeline was January 9th through February 28th. Covid shutdowns did not allow our 8-week season to kickoff until January 23rd which pushed our season end date to March 14th. Then the weather hit into our 2nd weekend and has been relentless since, especially for teams on Sunday who thus far have had as many as 4 weekends snowed out. Saturday’s group has only been snowed out twice. We thank everyone for their flexibility, patience, and understanding of these uncontrollables that have impacted our program plans and your playing experience thus far.
The county has removed the 25 person capacity limit on outdoor fields which will allow ASC to run simultaneous fields at the same time, like we had originally planned to do so. This means that we intend to make-up these events through doubleheaders rather than extending the season end date. Each age group of play presents a unique rescheduling format to be considered. We have as few as 3 teams in a division and as many as 8 teams in another. The even number of teams is pretty straightforward for rescheduling purposes. The odd number of teams (3, 5, or 7), is a little bit more challenging. We will be reaching out to the coaches in the age groups to outline the age group format for the last two to three weeks of the season. The schedule will also be updated in the system for participants and families to see.
The Boys and GHS/GU15 divisions will have Doubleheaders on March 6th and March 13th
The Girls U10/U12 and COED U8 divisions have Doubleheaders for the next three sundays, 2/28, 3/7, and 3/14
