ASC Winter Futsal Community,
Happy New Year! We hope everyone had a safe and fun holiday season and best wishes as we embark upon new journeys in 2021.
In terms of where we stand for our Winter Futsal league, it is tough to say precisely (as of January 4th at 930am) yet we want to remain consistent and transparent in our communications to registered participants. As you already know, on Dec. 10th, the county paused organized youth sport field access to all county owned facilities from 12/16-1/13 and as such, our winter programming that was to start January 9th has been on hold. Right now, we do not have an update to provide regarding the status of what will be possible here in Anne Arundel County after January 13th, however, other parts of the state and region are still playing.
While we wait and remain hopeful that access to county owned facilities will be granted, we are making plans to start the league on January 16th. The last game of the season would be March 6th/7th (pending weather make-ups to be played on March 13th/14th). A potential schedule for this could be released later this week. We are committed to keeping the proposed schedule intact to the best of our abilities and age groups should expect to remain playing at relatively the same time slot on the same day stated. The team coaches and volunteers received an email on December 16th with more specifics so please ask your designated coach/team volunteer for more information regarding possible contingency plans and/or refer to the posted (and linked above) ASC news announcement from 12/14.
In summary, we are still waiting to learn more about what our Outdoor Futsal season may look like. Should restrictions loosen, we will begin on January 16th and we will work diligently to accommodate any new or revised return to play protocols to ensure that everyone remains safe. Please continue to remain flexible and optimistic that we will be able to provide this outlet for our community youth. We will be in contact with the designated coaches and as soon as we receive more information, we will do our best to notify you all in a timely manner.
